I’ve been contemplating one of my favorite sutras from the the vijnana bhairava tantra. If you don’t know it, the vijnana bhairava tantra is a group of over a hundred sutras, each about how to find blissfullness in everyday life.

The one I’ve been thinking about is:
“In any activity, concentrate on the gap between inbreath and outbreath. Thus attain to bliss.” (Translation in the appendix of the book Yoga Spandakarika by Daniel Odier)

Anyway, I’ve always thought of this sutra literally in regard to just the breath.  But lately I’ve been thinking about it in regard to the gaps between everything – all the transitions that we have in our lives.  So, instead of finding the blissfullness in the activities of life, this is turning that around and finding the bliss inbetween the activities – all the transitions of life.  We have a lot of transitions in our lives – that’s a lot of time for blissfulness!

Here is a video practice focusing on that theme — enjoy!   John
