Yoga Playlist 2011 - May

Here is my most recent yoga playlist I’ve been using in my classes.  Normally what I’ll do is take this general playlist and then move the songs around depending on the class.  So, I might have the same songs in a class, but it’s a different organization of the songs.  It’s amazing how this can make a pretty big difference in the class.

One thing I reconginze is how the first song can really set the stage, so I think about that one quite a bit. What I’ve actually done the last few classes is add a special song specifically for that class for the first song.  For instance, the other day the theme of my class was all about the fact that I bought a new scooter.  So, I added Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild as the first song – it was totally funny and people loved it.

Here is a quick review of some of my favorite songs from this time’s yoga playlist:

All My Life by DJ Harry
I just really like the groove and  there are some sweet, flowing female vocals as well.  A nice way to setup the class.

All Right by Guardner
Another moving groove but not overbearing.  Just keeps the whole thing moving forward.

Earthgarden by Nada
Has some nice percussive effects, bird sounds, funky groove. Starts pretty ambient and then moves into a stead groovy with background chanting — sweet!

Jam Jah Dub by Shambala
That’s right — a little dub situation.  We got some trumpet, dub vocals, funky groove.  I’m really digging this song right now.
